Verification before committing surfaced four stale cross-references in orienting docs (the AldineXXI Companion Spec Index + the ARC CLAUDE.md companion-spec bullets). Surfacing was honest, not silent: *"Two stale cross-refs surface as inevitable follow-on from the four edits — including them keeps the corpus internally consistent (Live-State Discipline). Question: include in the same atomic commit, or commit the four authorized edits now and do the cross-refs as a follow-on commit?"*

Steward chose *"single atomic commit"*. This is Live-State Discipline at its proper scope: when status stamps change, the corpus cross-references mentioning them become stale in the same moment. Splitting the commit would create a window where the corpus contradicts itself. The surfacing-and-asking pattern preserved both Live-State Discipline AND steward authorization gate.
