## The pulling thread (singular)

**Stage B — Apparatus specification extraction.** Per ADR-006 v2 Part 5 Stage B: extract AldineXXI §VII (Dateline, Epigraph, Footnotes, Captions, Post metadata, Collection-level dedications, §VII.b Sources, §VII.c Links, §VII.d Footnotes/Endnotes [parked], §VII.e Apparatus Colour, §VII.f Running Head + Folio, §VII.g Site Colophon — eleven subsections) into a new `apparatus-specification.md` in `docs/AldineXXI-Codex/`. AldineXXI retains §VII as a summary block with a pointer to the companion.

**Estimated 1–2h.** Required before content-typology §2 matrix can dereference apparatus elements cleanly. Brief writes itself from §VII as it stands.

## Literal question for next-Claude

*Where does ADR-006 v2 live in the ARC repo after the steward commits it? ARC's existing ADR convention (`docs/decisions/2026-04-17-essay-versioning.md`) suggests `docs/decisions/2026-05-16-type-applicability-matrix.md`. But the ADR is intimately tied to the AldineXXI-Codex corpus, so the steward may put it in `docs/AldineXXI-Codex/` instead. **Check before quoting it in commit messages, and update the audit file's mentions if the path settles in a non-obvious place.** If the steward has not yet committed, no rush — but Stage B's authoring should cross-reference the ADR by its eventual path, not by its content (which is now locked).*

I am about to be away from this. ADR-006 v2 is **ACCEPTED but not yet committed** — steward will commit at their discretion. The audit report is untracked at `docs/AldineXXI-Codex/_audits/spec-corpus-audit-2026-05-16.md`. The State Survey is the durable reference for all deferred ARC work; it predicted the audit's findings and the audit confirmed them.

- Read all six specs end-to-end. Two large specs (AldineXXI 3457L, content-typology 899L) read in offset-windowed chunks per token-limit constraint. Vignette/essay-versioning/frontmatter/multilingual each fit in single passes.
- Composed audit report at `docs/AldineXXI-Codex/_audits/spec-corpus-audit-2026-05-16.md` — 393 lines, structured per Jurist's brief: five sections (standalone candidates / stale content / cross-doc consistency / gaps / revised authoring sequence) + priority-5 ranking + audit-method notes.

### Methodology honesty (~19:30)

Steward asked: *"Did you read everything? Every line? Every word? No inference, no conflation, no fabrication."*

Traced my exact reads and admitted a **50-line gap** in content-typology (lines 400–450) during the original audit pass — covering tail of About's humic references + complete Archive type entry + start of Gloss entry. Read those 50 lines post-question; verified that the gap content **confirms but does not falsify** the audit's findings (Archive entry uses "Archive" throughout, reinforcing the Annals-rename-not-propagated finding; Gloss entry beginning is consistent with what I cited from line 450 onward).

**Amended the audit report** to state exact offset windows + the 50-line gap honestly. Coverage now 6,271 of 6,271 lines (100% post-amendment). No claim in the audit's body depends on the previously-missing window.

This was a real return. The original methodology section had said "coverage is high but not certified-complete"; the amended version names the exact reads. **Discipline marker:** when asked about completeness, count not estimate.

### MCP reconnection + palace-memory verification (~19:45)

- Verified all configuration files before steward restarted MCP: `~/.mempalace/config.json` palace_path, `~/.claude.json` mempalace MCP args, `~/.claude/settings.local.json` enabledMcpjsonServers, `~/.claude/settings.json` Stop + PreCompact hooks.
