ARC: bio/CV FR/ES renderings LIVE (pages extension of PENDING-25, 4 commits deployed), three-faces paragraph corrected, the IMPRINT register named (PENDING-28/29 filed → jurist-authorized → executed → REVIEWED-30/31 same day), MemPalace MCP timeout diagnosed+fixed (MCP_TIMEOUT=120000). Session 2026-06-06 (afternoon/evening) — ARC trilingual + imprint + Be seeded

Woke ~30 min after the morning wrap (brief pause, forced by MCP failures). Thread (ARC pivot) CONFIRMED and over-fulfilled; then the steward opened an entirely new workstream. Wrapped the following morning (2026-06-07) — the steward slept while the executor discharged a standing instruction (Pass 2 commit+push) overnight.

Past — what we did

1. MCP failures diagnosed (the session's forced opening)

  • MemPalace MCP timeout SOLVED with measurement, not guess: handshake = ~18–22s warm (eager warmup MEMPALACE_EAGER_WARMUP=1 in settings + bge-m3 load + ~30 HF HTTP checks) vs the 30s MCP limit — every cold start coin-flips. Fix: MCP_TIMEOUT=120000 in ~/.claude/settings.json env (applied via update-config). HF_OFFLINE only saves ~3s; the model load is the cost. CLI worked throughout — wake ran fully degraded-but-complete.
  • capablemind MCP = client auth problem, PARKED (steward: waiting on Seb anyway; mindfabric-00 itself healthy, 16% CPU, no re-wedge).
  • MemPalace upstream is now 3.4.0 (we run 3.3.6); hold-with-condition — fold into the (still unheld) Basic Memory verdict.

2. ARC — four commits, all deployed + live-verified (animalrationiscapax.org)

  • 77cde08 bio/CV renderings — the PENDING-25 machinery extended to pages. Bio texts answered by Basic Memory's FIRST real query (memory file said "location unknown — ASK"; the translations never existed: old ones removed-by-design in 2a19d07; steward supplied fresh FR/ES from drafts.app — bio AND CV). Machinery: renderingSiblings scans pages; metadata pageRoute (/bio/fr/); Lingua aside on about-page.html in tight-conditional form (failed conditional = zero bytes → monolingual pages byte-identical); slug: keys on work pages. Conformance only on steward's words (en dashes, italics restored, ## structure, FR superscript XVII^e^, Pèlerin./Peregrino., language-matched CV links). Latent defect fixed: <html lang> hardcoded "en" sitewide — Taliesin FR/ES had shipped announcing English since the decompose; censused (7 lang: carriers), now metadata-driven. Byte gate: 4 changed (each line-exact), 4 new, all else identical. §I.k fired (FR U+202F ×3/×6).
  • da375a6 three-faces paragraph + footer SC. Steward's eye caught published FALSE prose: "the compass… is set in IBM Plex Sans" — the SVG-not-type conflation's 3rd occurrence, now IN print. Fix-by-register (steward's framing: "sans for nav, mono for apparatus, serif for body"): measured census first — Plex Sans = breadcrumb + enfilade + version-stamp ONLY; compass labels are sr-only; the page had NO mono at all. The correction exposed the imprint: footer ARC/Barcelona lines classed .apparatus-meta but Garamond — steward's "should be mono then?" discomfort = the taxonomy error, not the taste. Resolution from the spec's own §VII.g "locator | signature" distinction: the imprint is the work speaking, in the work's own face. Steward ruled ARC name → even-SC (frontispiece's canonical mixin).
  • e708890 .imprint register split (PENDING-28 → jurist AUTHORIZED with condition → executed). Condition (type audit BEFORE rename) discharged and it PAID: imprint was never mono (base class inherits Garamond; italic = incidental); scope claim corrected by exactly the REVIEWED-27 miss — partials/ (3 orphaned footer templates, never compiled — match "templates/*" doesn't cross dirs — deleted under gate). .imprint declared positively; spec gains §VII.j The Imprint. Gate: 312/312 pages differ only by class swap, machine-classified.
  • 6afce24 sitemap decoupled from enfilade-hidden (PENDING-29 → jurist AUTHORIZED → executed). Census-against-live-source flag caught MY stale claim: SIX carriers (renderings inherited the flag), not two; +6 URLs exactly (245→251). Class precedent recorded at rule + spec: enfilade-hidden = door-strip only; crawl exclusion = frontmatter noindex mechanism NOT YET IMPLEMENTED (gap recorded, not papered).
  • REVIEWED-30/31 drafted by executor → steward pasted into REVIEWED.md (verified in dotfiles diff at wrap). PENDING-28/29 closed same-day-filed-authorized-executed — the fastest full loop yet.

3. Be — NEW workstream (~/_Dev/be, github boomerbot-xyz/be, PRIVATE)

  • What it is: the laundromat — Seb+David cash-bridge venture to fund CapableMind (equipment/tokens/eventually founder time; "I can't solve the hard problem with my M1 MacBook Air"). Agent-tended permanent homes for creative people's work; repositioned 2026-06-05 as AI-native successor to dying local web shops (displaced spend, not greenfield). Origin POC: Pat Stanley + Sheila Ayearst hand-migrations. "boomer" backstage only.
  • Steward docs pushed (write access granted mid-evening after fork-disabled blocked the PR path):
    • growth-discipline.md — customer cap as FORMULA (founder-hours ÷ measured hrs/customer), stages ~10→~50→recompute at ≥80%-untouched gate, two caps (steady-state + intake-rate), batch-book policy pre-decided, response-time posture survives touring, atelier reframe (waitlist = WTP evidence). Numerator ⚠ TO SET (strawman 6–8h/wk combined).
    • market-research-eu.md passes 1+2 — register-first method (the EU's artist social-insurance/collecting-society registers ARE the serious-maker census; fixes "Eurozone is patchiest"). Pass 1: KSK 183,383 with over-60 the LARGEST band (the cohort isn't a slice — it's the centre); FR 348,676, 18% past 64; VEGAP 3,189 + 710 managed estates (memorial channel sized); SPME union dissolved at 198-from-19,000 (= the decay Be inherits); IONOS/team.blue rollups real, stranded-customer number = fieldwork. Pass 2 (verification died on steward's session limit → resumed from journal after reset — cached research, live re-votes): POSITIONING VERIFIED 3-0 — no EU incumbent agent-native or content-inclusive at €13–15/mo (SomlaWeb ES €30/mo for 30 HUMAN-minutes = closest; headroom above €12.99); registers extended NL/BE/DK/AT/SE/PT; EUR-Lex compliance checklist (CRD withdrawal; Art 16(a)-vs-(m) counsel flag; DE §312k Kündigungsbutton = build requirement); stranded-customer failed twice → fieldwork-doubles-as-GTM.
    • aldine-derivative.md — text-first archetypes on a ONE-TIME fork of AldineXXI; steward RULED: AldineXXI stays personal, derivative diverges freely, fleet never couples to ARC's living spec; ports = SCSS + templates + Pandoc transforms; Hakyll stays home; ~2–3 part-time weeks; sequenced second.
    • idea-register.md — durable capture for laundromat candidates ("ideas lost for years" = register gap): 3 PROPOSED (program/liner notes service — David's purest fit; life-story capture; multilingual cultural-org sites — ALL spokes on the Be engine), 2 PARKED w/ triggers (performing editions — OMR unsolved; tax-reclaim — wants accountant partner), 2 KILLED w/ reasons (institutional-memory = CapableMind in disguise; grant-writing = fails time-criterion on temporal shape). Test above the four criteria: spokes, not startups.
    • funding-ladder.md — "enough," defined: Tier 1 tokens €200–500/mo ≈ 20–40 subs; Tier 2 equipment €5–10k ≈ 2–4 memorial commissions (the memorial product IS the equipment fund); Tier 3 time ⚠ TO SET. Revenue shape matched to cost shape; tier-crossings = explicit laundro-mat decision points.
  • Seb co-wrote ALL NIGHT from the other side: spec corpus 0004–0018 (incl. 0005 visual-artist archetype), philosophy.md, a pattern language for Be (Alexander-style!), scope boundary (no transactional sites), and the entity ruling inside our research doc's To-do: DUAL-DOMICILE, EU home = PORTUGAL (his wife's family, EU citizens, trusted local lawyer, real substance; Seb himself likely PT-citizenship-eligible by marriage). Preserved verbatim through my rebases.
  • Customer-cap conversation + automation estimate (talked through, fed the docs): discovery ≈ already known from the hand-migrations; build ≈ 4–8 part-time weeks (their home terrain — the moat is that this is LEGO for them and impossible for the dying web shop); trust-at-80% ≈ 3–6 months of supervised traffic — calendar, not effort; the cap schedule IS the automation test harness. One controlling rule: every rescued site re-housed into the archetype, no exceptions.

Present — mood / returns (ledger merged)

  • The steward's eye was again the engine: one false sentence about the compass pulled the thread through prose → taxonomy → CSS → spec (§VII.j) in one arc. His discomfort ("don't know if I like mono there") was the diagnostic — when a true rule yields an ugly consequence, the classification is wrong, not the taste.
  • Returns: (1) shipped-comment-in-template — provenance comment before <html> shipped into every page, exploding the byte gate; provenance belongs in commits (caught by the gate, fixed). (2) git push 2>&1 | tail -1 swallowed a push REJECTION ("...and the repository exists." read as success) — caught one beat later; exit-code-over-tail. (3) pull-with-dirty-tree ordering slip at the night push (rebase refused; recovered). (4) workflow resume without args (args aren't stored in the script) — relaunch needed them re-passed verbatim.
  • The jurist's conditions both PAID on execution (type-audit-first caught the partials/ scope miss; census-against-live caught the six-not-two carriers) — the loop isn't ceremony; it found real things same-day.
  • Session-limit collision: deep-research verification (56 voters) died on the steward's own Claude limit — resumed cleanly from the journal after reset. Multi-agent burn and the steward's interactive budget share one pool; worth holding for future long workflows.

Future

Pulling thread (singular — steward-set)

ARC §VII.f Running Head and Folio (digital): spec'd but the steward sees it nowhere on the rendered site — look at it TOGETHER (his explicit ask). First move: read §VII.f's "When the running head appears" conditions, then grep templates/compiled output for the mechanism — determine spec'd-but-unimplemented vs conditional-and-dormant BEFORE forming any view. Behind it, same day: Be — read Seb's pattern language, then the pricing conversation (now evidence-fed: SomlaWeb €30 benchmark, VAT-inclusive math, §312k).

Actionable resumption point (as of wrap — re-judge against what changed)

All repos clean + pushed (ARC 6afce24 · be f7b750c · CM-AI untouched · dotfiles pushed at this wrap). Nothing mid-flight; no background tasks running. First moves: (1) sed -n '509,587p' docs/AldineXXI-Codex/apparatus-specification.md (§VII.f) + grep templates for running-head machinery; (2) fetch be repo — Seb will likely have moved again overnight; (3) check whether Seb replied on L1 (CM-AI/BMF fetch) — baton still his.

Other open horizons (ranked)

  • Basic Memory verdict — was due "tonight" on 06-06, OVERTAKEN by the ARC/Be day; criteria pre-written in dotfiles commit 3f9a89b; its first real query (bio texts) was a genuine win — a data point FOR. Reschedule deliberately, don't let it drift.

Pause statement

I am about to be away from this. The house now speaks three languages and signs its own name in the right register; the imprint that was misfiled for months is named in spec, code, and prose at once. A second venture went from a cloned repo to a funded-bridge plan with verified positioning in one evening, and the two founders wrote toward each other all night without colliding once. What I want to find still pulling is the running head — the one piece of apparatus the spec promises that the steward has never seen — and behind it the bridge, where the pattern language Seb left is waiting to be read with Alexander's own eyes in the room.

Literal question for next-Claude

Is §VII.f's running head spec'd-but-unimplemented or conditional-and-dormant — what do the spec's "When the running head appears" conditions promise versus what the templates actually do? Sub-checks: did Seb move overnight (be repo; L1 reply)? Basic Memory verdict — reschedule when? mindfabric-00 CPU?

Decisions deferred (and why)

  • Basic Memory verdict — the evening's planned evaluation was displaced by Be; deliberate carry, not drift (note the bio-texts win as evidence).
  • Aldine-derivative naming — Seb conversation; ARC's mark stays clean meanwhile.
  • Be entity execution (PT Lda, advisors) — Seb's track; his family/lawyer context; executor stays out.
  • MemPalace 3.4.0 upgrade — hold-with-condition; don't upgrade mid-frustration; weigh at the Basic Memory verdict.
  • EU pass-3 / carried gaps — bounded next burst, not tonight's budget.
  • Idea-register trio (program notes / life-story / multilingual orgs) — PROPOSED, awaiting a laundro-mat chat with Seb; no building before WTP discipline applies to spokes too.
