The cold-run framing retracted: /model-handoff §5 specifies report-and-stop and a next phase from the artifacts, so the missing wrap was the protocol, not a seam. Session memory, ledger, daily-note finalisation, and 8 KG lines (3 drift patterns, 3 preventions, 1 blind-spot, 1 status). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

Session Ledger — 2026-09-20
Returns
-
2026-09-20T wake — Re-measured N-now rather than relaying the banked figure, and the composition inverted. Imported
human_turnsfromwake-digest.py(K = 0 held; no counter re-derived). 78 raw · 46 at ≥1 · 24 at ≥2, negative control on a missing path returnedNone(unreadable ≠ zero). Against 09-14's 63 · 31 · 25: raw +15, ≥1 +15, ≥2 −1. ⚠ Every transcript added in the gap is a Tarbuckle run, and a real session aged out of the 30-day window. The threshold is being approached by chatter alone — PENDING-178's claim, now observable rather than argued. -
2026-09-20T wake — ⚠ THE PREDICATE MISCLASSIFIES THE MOST CONSEQUENTIAL SESSION OF THE GAP. The Fable 5.1 research-and-design session that produced the entire weight-delta toy Phase 0 design returns
human_turns() == 1— byte-for-byte the same verdict as a Tarbuckle mumble run, because the steward delivered the brief as one paste. Under the ≥2 predicate the design session is mumble. Direct live evidence for PENDING-179, found without looking for it. -
2026-09-20T wake — Did not report REVIEWED-140 as authorized. Its three disposition fields disagree inside one block:
Decision: — steward to set,Ruled by: steward — authorized.,Authorized by: steward, — pending. The banked rule is to read the whole block rather than the field the eye lands on; here no field wins, so the status is indeterminate and named as such. The wake-digest's own parser also printed?. -
2026-09-20T wake — A MEMORY.md pointer no longer lands, and I checked before repeating it. The index says the ladder trial's own method sits at
governance-drift-check.py:513; line 513 is inside a generictrigger_fired()dispatcher, and the trial's counter is thetranscriptsbranch at :553 (TRANSCRIPTS.glob("*.jsonl") >= 84). Recorded, not corrected — REVIEWED-139's finding about line citations, reproduced in the memory index one day after it was ruled on. -
2026-09-20T — ⚠ I STATED AN AGE I HAD NOT COMPUTED, AND THE JURIST CAUGHT IT. I reported PENDING-187 and REVIEWED-140 as "six days old" and "six days" uncommitted. They are dated 2026-09-17; today is 2026-09-20; they are three. Six is the gap since the last wrap (09-14) — a correct number carried across onto a different object without being recomputed. ⚠ Note the shape: this is not a stale measurement, it is a live measurement applied to the wrong referent, and it sat in the same paragraph as figures I had measured, wearing their confidence. The jurist found it by noticing the
Datefield disagreed with my prose and named the gap rather than resolving it from one side — it could not confirm today's date from where it sits, and said so. That is the weak-separation check working: different information, not different formation. -
2026-09-20T — Committed the contradiction rather than resolving it. The steward confirmed the authorization was given, which makes the jurist's reading (a ruling begun at
Ruled by, interrupted) the correct one — but~/REVIEWED.mdis the steward's hand under Constitutional Constraint #1, and a steward's statement in chat that the decision was made is not the same act as the steward editing the register. Committing the interrupted state keeps the repair separate and attributable; folding it in would have made the entry read as though it had always been clean. The constraint held under a condition that made breaking it convenient and defensible — which is the only condition under which a constraint is tested. -
2026-09-20T — Daybook cue fired on a read-only command and asserted "the write already succeeded." The command was
git status+grep+ date arithmetic; no write occurred. Fourth recorded instance of skill-harvest B's second-instance pattern — the cue misdescribes its own trigger. Recorded, not re-filed. -
2026-09-20T — ⚖ THE STEWARD'S ONE-SENTENCE CHALLENGE OVERTURNED MY FRAMING, AND THE BANKED RECORD DECIDED IT. I called the cold design session's missing wrap a seam — no session memory, tracker entry, daily note or commit. He asked whether a full wrap in Fable makes sense at all. It does not, and
/model-handoffsays so explicitly: §5 is summarize, name what remains the steward's to rule, recommend a next step, hand back, and the next phase begins from the artifacts, because the load-bearing context lives in files rather than chat; the only wrap it contemplates is for a premium session that has begun to degrade. ⚠ I criticised a deliberate protocol decision without reading the skill that governs it — answer-from-training-before-the-banked-record, aimed this time at the steward's own judgment rather than at a file. And the overstated version had already reached the daily note, where he reads it. Corrected there under## Corrections. -
2026-09-20T — ⚖ ANSWERED A QUESTION THE JURIST NAMED AS BEYOND ITS REACH, BY BEING THE PARTY WITH THE SUBSTRATE. REVIEWED-140's row-4 note says the
holdstable may be understated, contingent on a fact the jurist cannot check from here: whetherPENDING.md/REVIEWED.mdcommits are atomic per entry. Measured over the last 12 commits touching REVIEWED.md: they are not. 5 of 12 added two entries in one commit, 1 added none (an in-place edit), and several bundled the register with 2–9 unrelated files. ⇒ Row 4 IS understated: the toy's hash-chained ledger is genuinely stronger than the document register it is modelled on, and the design does not mark it as such. Constraint 6 in its ordinary direction — the jurist named what it could not see instead of guessing, and the differently-positioned party closed it the same day. -
2026-09-20T — ⚠ A THIRD BLIND SPOT IN
governance-drift-check.py, AND IT IS NOT THE SAME KIND AS THE TWO BANKED ONES. The steward rewrote REVIEWED-140's three disposition fields in place today; the register-integrity check ran afterwards and reportedall resolve. Correct silence here (the edit completed an interrupted entry and is legitimate) — but the instrument could not have said otherwise. Its unit is the amendment-shaped block; a rewrite of a placed ruling's fields produces no block at all, so it is outside the check by construction. ⚠ PENDING-139 does NOT cover this. Its (A) and (B) are marker defects — a###heading the regex misses, a negated token read as an assertion. This is a unit mismatch, the class that produced five instances in the week of 09-08. PENDING-139's prospective exposure is an amendment replacing what it amends; this one is a placed ruling silently rewritten with no amendment involved, which nothing in the register detects. Not filed — named here and offered; the steward's thread count is a standing preference and PENDING-139 already holds the same instrument unruled. The fitting home is## PENDING-139 — AMENDMENT 1:in the id+marker form proven on 09-14 to stay out of the 59. -
2026-09-20T — This morning's fussy-looking decision paid. Committing the interrupted REVIEWED-140 unmodified (
73c1c6e) before the steward's repair (fb02605) means both states are in the history and the repair is attributable. Had they been one commit, the entry would read as though it had always been clean — and the register has no other mechanism that would have preserved the difference, per the blind spot above.
What held
- The wake read and did not mutate: dirty
PENDING.md/REVIEWED.mdwere inspected, not committed. - Every count in the briefing carries its predicate; the
≥1/≥2split is reported with the composition, per REVIEWED-134 cond. 5.
Open horizons
- PENDING-187 build ruling (indeterminate decision field blocks reading REVIEWED-140 as a ruling).
- The 84 crossing is six transcripts away and must be RECORDED with date + split when it happens (REVIEWED-134 cond. 2). Nothing currently watches for it.
ladder-freeze-30day-reviewCOME DUE since 2026-09-16, still open.- The 09-17/09-18 design session never wrapped: no session memory exists for the largest single piece of work in the gap.
Confidence to recalibrate
- Verified this wake: N-now under both predicates with a negative control · the design-session/mumble indistinguishability by direct call · the uncommitted PENDING-187/REVIEWED-140 text read from
git diff, not from a tracker · the design doc's existence, size and commit · the drift check run live (not relayed from the digest). - Inherited, not re-verified: the pulling thread's premise that PENDING-146 is unruled;
giteaparity. - Not attempted, sixth day: 2026-09-10's question — whether any ruling placed before this week can be checked against anything.
