Basic Memory v0.21.6 first sync over the live memory dir (steward-authorized live-dir trial, Option A 2026-06-06): adds permalink: to frontmatter, refolds long YAML description lines, strips final newlines. Bodies untouched — verified via full diff classification. From this commit forward, any diff in claude/memory shows only what Basic Memory or the session writes. Trial design: MemPalace untouched as incumbent; git status check on this dir at every wrap; end-of-day evaluation (recall quality, sync robustness, rebuild-from-files, malformed-file behavior). - 2026-06-06T09:05 — RETURN: trial "copy" of memory dir was a symlink (cp -R copied the link; live dir is itself a symlink into ~/dotfiles/claude/memory). Basic Memory's first sync wrote permalink + YAML normalization into all 283 LIVE files. Signal was present and unread: du reported 0 for the copy; I rationalized it as APFS cloning instead of looking. Drift pattern: asserting-fs-state-from-a-misread-listing (logged 2026-05-27, recurred today). Delta verified benign via git (permalink added, YAML rewrap, EOF newline stripped, bodies untouched).
Open horizons
- 2026-06-06T07:30 — Thread: the Seb reply (Tier A + mindfabric-00 probe). Wake finding: local BMF tree 32 commits stale (C1 cold/teacherless rerank + D1 harness already landed on origin) — reply must be drafted against origin/main, not the remembered local state. Live hazard named at wake: MemPalace≠BMF conflation (3rd correction logged 06-05); today is a BMF day.
- 2026-06-06T07:30 — mindfabric-00 probe: port/instance unknown; may need steward to start it.
