Basic Memory v0.21.6 first sync over the live memory dir (steward-authorized live-dir trial, Option A 2026-06-06): adds permalink: to frontmatter, refolds long YAML description lines, strips final newlines. Bodies untouched — verified via full diff classification. From this commit forward, any diff in claude/memory shows only what Basic Memory or the session writes. Trial design: MemPalace untouched as incumbent; git status check on this dir at every wrap; end-of-day evaluation (recall quality, sync robustness, rebuild-from-files, malformed-file behavior). - ~10:30 — Misframed §II.d question for /aldine-xxi/ as "departure to asymmetric on screen" when per-piece composition rule + marginalia presence already produces asymmetric form. Steward caught: "the per piece composition rule is king here and since we will have marginalia, asymmetric is the form." Pattern: framing-as-departure-when-the-rule-already-produces-the-form. Cousin to yesterday's extending-precedent-by-criterion-that-no-longer-discriminates — both invent a question where the rule has already answered.
- ~10:30 — Caught self drafting "two-for-one" framing for figure+caption pairing in §4 — efficiency-frame leaking into aesthetic territory. Each demonstration earns its place by what it teaches, not by what it bundles.
- ~14:30 — Proposed capsule body in apparatus register (Plex Mono italic) without checking that ARC sidenotes are body-register. Steward caught: "sidenotes are rendered in body text, why would a capsule be rendered in apparatus text?" The spec's body-vs-apparatus criterion is inside-the-reading vs. locating-from-outside, not narrative vs. technical. A capsule offered to the reader-in-act-of-dwelling is inside-the-reading; same register as sidenote. New pattern: register-assigned-by-content-type-without-checking-spec-criterion. Cousin to not-checking-neighboring-pages-for-overlap-before-drafting.
Open horizons
- Pulling thread (resolved → in progress): /aldine-xxi/ public-page rewrite. Today: posture resolved (dedicatees: dead, living, unborn; voice: first-person I offering hospitality, in hope of we); 8-voice chavruta on voice/register (3 convergences + 2 steward-resolved questions); structural sketch landed (§I–§V with capsule, sidenote, figure caption, sources, dedication). §XII.e capsule starting form locked after two design-iterations + steward catches: (a) anchor
[TERM]small-caps-in-brackets in body, per Lacroux/Imprimerie nationale convention (brackets for cross-references/editor's notes) + encyclopedic small-caps tradition + Davies as crystallizer of compound; (b) capsule body in body column (not margin — capsules are mini-essays, not annotations) set apart by hairline rule above + below, opens with headword in small caps + body in EB Garamond, length ~100–250 words for AldineXXI's single-capsule context (Davies's typical 400+ words is calibrated for his 1300-page book scale). Lock the form; let first-use teach. Iterate from rendered page when steward's eye meets it. Spec change: §XII.e formalized; small-caps table gains "Capsule anchor (§XII.e)" row with disambiguation notes. - Capsule text size — held for masters' reading. Steward's instinct: ever-so-slightly smaller than body. Bringhurst §3.1 has "one-point-smaller" convention (already used for ARC sidenotes per spec line 830). Defer until focused reading session. Resolves with §IV deepening + multilingual decisions in same masters-reading session — natural session-shape.
- §IV named-territory deepening (next session) — yesterday's spec note named Williamson, Saenger, de Hamel as candidate sources for the Aldine-restraint + 21st-century-marginal-register synthesis. All three confirmed in chamber-library at

Bge-m3 mine pre-dates the typography folder expansion. Deep read → §IV note revision: does any single source land the territory, or is the synthesis still genuinely between traditions? - Multilingual section spec (next session) — French source:

Posture-call belongs to steward (chavruta surfaced the question; steward resolved). Echoes architectural synthesis horizon (to not be orphans in time, and to have something to give to the unborn).
Sub-agent dialogues
- 8-voice chavruta on /aldine-xxi/ voice and register (Bringhurst, Tschichold, Hochuli, Lupton, Manutius-via-Margolis, Alexander, Bachelard, Calvino). Round 1 independent (each grounded in chamber-library verbatim — re-search needed for Calvino/Alexander/Hochuli files which were in library but not surfacing on first-pass semantic search; diagnostic note for L1 search-quality work). Round 2 cross-talk on four axes (pedagogy-vs-literature; addressee; teach-its-own-reading; admit-brittleness). Round 3 discriminator test: three convergences confirmed (literary-voice-tuned-for-reach; composed-structure-not-exposed-scaffolding; admits-brittleness-without-being-dominated). Two questions surfaced as steward-calls (dedicatee; first-person posture). Steward resolved both with depth.
- Bringhurst-material-thinness flag: dedication only, not preface/foreword. Held as transparent gap in cross-talk.
