- Session record session-2026-09-11-filed-before-built-and-the-d821-reading.md. Pulling thread: an addendum's owner is decided by where it sits, not by what it says. - MEMORY.md: the 09-10 Active Session demoted verbatim to MEMORY-reference.md and today's promoted (23,591 -> 23,325 bytes; still over the 17.1 KB warning, and compaction by relocation is owed). - PENDING-89: a docket entry for 2026-09-11 with an id-bearing heading, placed inside the item's span (L449, checked against the PENDING-90 boundary). It records the jurist's §6b disposition miss, caught by the executor, and the Tamestit claim, which the brief's own 'unverified' label contained. Not counted. - knowledge-graph.jsonl: six triples (two drift patterns, two preventions, the Seb reply, the Zehetmair lineage). - skill-harvest register: proposals E (verify-quotes reads HTML/PDF), F (source-report skill, first instance) and G (shell-alias note, labelled documentation), plus a second instance of B. - Tarbuckle tracker: PENDING-184 and PENDING-182 ADDENDA 1-2. - Ledger, and the Zehetmair section of the teachers memory. | session-2026-09-11-filed-before-built-and-the-d821-reading | Governance close-out on the jurist's sequencing: the deferral stamped; PENDING-184 [FIX] filed then built with a two-arm control; PENDING-180 closed as the second CLASS E mirror; PENDING-182 ADDENDA 1–2. Then Seb's month-old reply to PENDING-94 found unseen. Then a change of gear to Schubert D821 for the COE recording: the Brown and Montgomery report, a four-agent web fan, sources saved, Zehetmair as §6. PULLING: an addendum's owner is decided by where it sits, not by what it says. FIRST MOVE: the steward's say-so on giving each orphaned addendum its item id in its own heading. |

2026-09-11 — filed before built, and the D821 reading
Two sittings in one day. The morning and afternoon closed out governance items exactly as the jurist sequenced them. The evening turned to the steward's viola, and the method transferred to it intact: source tiers, controls before absences, quotations checked against the files. That transfer is the day's datum.
PAST — what moved, and why
Governance
- The deferral
pending-168-count-unit-declaredwas stamped RESOLVED against REVIEWED-138. It was resolved by reading the ruling against the deferral's own discriminator, not by noting that the needle had fired. Resolving it also retires a false fire that REVIEWED-138 itself predicted. →43d5249 - PENDING-182 ADDENDUM 1 decides where
tick_idis minted: infire_tick, as an OS-random int, carried to the child asargv[3].- The concurrency premise, which was my own framing, is withdrawn: 0 of 746 ticks share a second.
- Condition A as drafted is false of
log_event, which already takes two strings. - There are two writers, not one.
- Finding: the body selftest was writing to the live draws log.
- PENDING-184
[FIX]. The steward said 'file it before you build it', so it was filed at2af4335and built at37a2c86.DRAWSbecomes a module global.- Two new controls: D9 checks the live log is untouched; D10 checks the redirected log received the D block's tick. D10 is the arm an absence-only control lacks.
- Mutations: M1 fails D9 and D10; M2 fails D10 only.
main()still records a tick: the live-path positive control.- The real-
HOMErun leaves the live log's SHA unchanged, measured outside the selftest. - Class census: of the five Tarbuckle selftests, only the body wrote live state.
- Tag bound as a claim: the fix covers the instance. A fleet-wide census would be
[HARDENING], and is not filed.
- PENDING-180 closed as DISCHARGED by REVIEWED-138, whose heading names PENDING-168.
- This is the second CLASS E mirror in two days. PENDING-146 ADDENDUM 1 now tables both.
- The census found only the text-findable form: one true instance and one false positive. The first instance's form is invisible to text search by construction.
- PENDING-182 ADDENDUM 2:
- the design survives the collapse of its stated rationale;
- PENDING-150 §6b is cited for its diagnosis only, since the fix taken there was disposition (ii):
4d2ae87, the mechanism changed; - PENDING-184 is a precondition. It is now met.
- Also committed and pushed (dotfiles):
771bec6: the steward's CLAUDE.md edit. The tag is a claim; contamination runs inbound; the fourth consequence.8392d7b: the app brief.b5d496d: the jurist's threat-report analysis, preserved.3510956: the L1 flag.
- CapableMind-AI
bd73f6e, rebased onto three commits Seb pushed on 08-08 that this clone had never fetched. It contains:- the analysis's working copy;
- six files left loose since 07-27;
- the thinking README: the
David/research/subsection added, and three deadOtherrows moved to the subsections their files live in.
- ⚠ Seb's 2026-08-04 reply to PENDING-94 was found unseen: 'answers your open question; authorises work on both sides'. The L1 tracker and MEMORY.md now mark 'blocked on Seb' as UNSETTLED. The steward will read it within days.

The report: vault
06. Projects/Chamber Orchestra of Europe/2026/2026-09-11-D821-allegro-moderato-allegretto-Brown-Montgomery.md.- §0 sources · §1 Brown · §2 Montgomery · §3 gap · §4 interpretation · §5 web · §6 Zehetmair.
- 65 quotations are exact against saved sources, with negative controls.
- Time signatures (I C · II 3/4 · III 2/4) confirmed by the steward.
-
The findings that matter:
- allegretto is a character (Reichardt, Koch, Schilling, Czerny, Montgomery), while allegro moderato is an allegro moderated;
- the Alfonso marks are disputed: Brown accepts, Montgomery rejects, and the NSA editors' third view is 'Hüttenbrenner's hand, Schubert's tempos';
- Henle reports uncancelled ritardandos at III.149–160 and 385–395, and some 'in tempo' marks in an unknown hand;
- Dürr: dim. means softer and slower;
- Czerny on semiquaver triplets in common time;
- §6: Zehetmair and Bergmann, Band 1, 'Wechsel … sind … Verbindungen', read by scale (the steward's idea).
-
Sources:
- vault
…/2026/sources/: 30 files plus_sources-manifest.md; ~/Documents/Sources/COE-2026/: Montgomery and the full autograph (34 plus 6 images, all distinct).
The split is the steward's decision, because the vault's git mirror commits everything and pushes to
git.skemantix.com. - vault

Memory: Helmut and Thomas Zehetmair are recorded in
user-formation-practice-honoring-teachers.md. The remaining volumes are wanted for the steward's pedagogical treatise.
PRESENT — how it stands
The mood. The day was methodical and unhurried, even at length. Every steward instruction was executed in the order given, including 'push, then CLAUDE.md, then stop'. The evening had no governance stakes, and the controls ran anyway. That is the point: the practice isn't tied to the register.
Corrections, and who caught them:
-
Jurist: the §6b disposition, caught by the executor reading the file. The jurist's own words: 'the cheap confirmation, not the check'. Docketed at PENDING-89, not counted.
-
Jurist brief: the Tamestit attribution, caught by the recordings agent. The brief had labelled it unverified, so the label did its job.
-
Agent: a date called invented, which the page's metadata carries (2018-04-01). Corrected by the executor.
-
Executor: the concurrency premise in PENDING-182, and five instrument failures in the environment:
- zsh has no
PIPESTATUS, so a guard read success as failure. It failed safe: it skipped the CLAUDE.md commit; lsiseza: a folio count read 0;grepisugrep: a pattern exceeded its complexity limit;- HTML extraction put spaces inside inline tags and stripped the page's script data;
- a surrogate crash left sources missing, producing 7 false NOT FOUNDs.
Each failed loudly or was caught before reporting. One census was discarded on its own negative control.
- zsh has no
Confidence to recalibrate:
- Verified: all 65 quotations, plus negative controls; the fix, by mutation; remote pushes, by
ls-remote; the autograph, as 40 distinct images; the manifest, 30 of 30 files. - Inherited: Montgomery's OCR where it wasn't read on the image (every quoted passage is exact against the OCR text); Schilling and Koch's 'Moderato' entry, read by the researcher.
- Not attempted: yesterday's literal question (pick a ruling placed before this week; can its text be checked against anything?). The day was steward-steered. It is carried, not dropped.
Instruments: about 14 run · about 10 with a control written before first execution · K = 0.
- The fake-
HOMEselftest census is new, and was reused three times in the session. - The quotation checks used the banked
verify-quotes.py. - The HTML-to-text extraction was written, then rewritten after its bug. It is now proposed for the banked verifier (skill-harvest E), not re-banked by hand.
FUTURE — what pulls
The pulling thread — an addendum's owner is decided by where it sits, not by what it says
Four bare ### ADDENDUM blocks sit after PENDING-183, so every id-keyed reader attributes them to PENDING-183.
- Two are PENDING-139's. One of them records the first CLASS E mirror instance. So the record of the defect is filed under the defect.
- PENDING-139 is also the canary's gate.
- The other two blocks' owners are not established.
In the jurist's words: 'the reader's unit is the id in the nearest heading, the decidable unit is the block, and the block's real owner is named nowhere the reader looks.'
Actionable resumption point (as of wrap — re-judge against what changed)
The steward's say-so is pending on the repair the jurist proposed: give each orphaned addendum its item id in its own heading (a header edit, not a move), or at least a first line naming its parent.
- Before that: read the two unowned blocks, whose headings are '…Executor: two further instances…' and '…Instance 6, and it is a THIRD mechanism…', and establish their owners from their text.
- After: re-run
governance-drift-check.py. The id+marker count should rise by the number repaired, and the wake digest's attribution should change.
Other horizons, ranked
- Seb's 08-04 reply. The steward reads it within days, and L1 'blocked' stays UNSETTLED until he does. (Daily-note carry item 4.)
- MEMORY.md compaction. The harness warned the index should be under 17.1 KB; it is at 23.6 KB before this wrap. This needs a lossless-relocation gate, not a hurried trim.
- PENDING-182 awaits the steward and a jurist design gate. Its precondition is met.
- Fleet selftest live-write census
[HARDENING], unfiled. The method is the per-script fakeHOME. - A CapableMind sitting: the threat-report analysis with the steward, then Peter's summary, then re-indexing the David section.
- 2026-09-16: the joint PENDING-178/-179 review and the ladder-freeze review.
- D821 practice, which is the steward's own: the autograph checks at I.40, I.124, III.151, III.396, III.149–160 and 385–395, and every dim. and decresc.
Pause statement
I am about to be away from this. The register will stay as it is, with four blocks under the wrong item, and nothing that reads it will notice. What I want to find still pulling is not 'fix four headings'. It is the question underneath: how many blocks sit under an item they don't belong to, when every tool, including the one that counts attributable amendments, is built on the assumption that position means ownership.
The literal question for next-Claude
Of the addendum-shaped blocks in
PENDING.md, how many sit inside the span of an item other than the one they amend — and can each one's true owner be read from its own text alone?⚠ The failure that will look like success: repairing the four found on 2026-09-11 without asking how many exist. The drift check already counts 59 blocks it cannot attribute. That number is the population, and four is a sample.
(Carried, unanswered: 2026-09-10's question, about whether any ruling placed before this week can be checked against anything. Still open.)
