David F GliddenandClaude Opus 4.7 119285cf43 claude: back up custom skills, memory, and settings with symlink pattern

The ~/.claude/ directory was previously local-only — a machine wipe
would have lost the accumulated memory, custom skills, and settings.
This commit moves the durable parts into dotfiles with the same
symlink-to-home pattern used for CLAUDE.md, PENDING.md, REVIEWED.md,
and L2-BOOTSTRAP.md.

Preserved (symlinked from ~/.claude/* into here):
  skills/audit/              — thinking-folder drift scanner
  skills/symmetria/          — practice-of-return discipline
  skills/vault-update-people/ — Obsidian People-file maintainer
  skills/wake-up/            — session restoration
  skills/wrap-up/            — session state capture
  memory/                    — 55+ memory files (MEMORY.md, sessions,
                               ledgers, project state, feedback, etc.)
  settings/settings.json     — user preferences (hooks, flags, no secrets)

Deliberately NOT backed up:
  settings.local.json   — contains operational secrets (HF_TOKEN,
                           SSH password in expect scripts); by naming
                           convention, *.local.* is not synced.
                           Needs separate review and probable rotation.
  sessions/, history.jsonl, caches, telemetry — ephemeral
  plugins/, marketplace skills and agents — reinstallable

The working copies at ~/.claude/skills/* and
~/.claude/projects/-Users-davidglidden/memory are symlinks into this
directory, so every write flows here automatically. install.sh
recreates the symlinks on a fresh machine.

FOLLOW-ON (flagged, not in this commit):
  settings.local.json contains a HuggingFace token and an SSH password
  as plaintext strings inside allowed Bash command patterns. These
  should be rotated and moved to secure storage (keychain / pass /
  env file outside the settings file).

What we did

Agent circle documents filed — three documents from brainstorming session with jurist:

agent-circles/agent-circle-violin-treatise.md — research circle with 4 persistent + 5 invocable agents
agent-circles/agent-circle-ARC.md — editorial circle with 3 persistent + 5 invocable agents
l2-constitution/DN-DRAFT-ungovernable-threshold.md — exploratory sketch on the design paradox of institutionalizing the ungovernable

Surveyed Seb's thinking folder for agent circle / multi-agent architecture content. Key findings: Amendment 41 (circles/clasp/keystone), Amendment 55 (knowledge routing), Amendment 56 (directed action patterns). Seb's architecture has functional roles but no structural outsider (trickster) or perspectival agents (ideal readers). Cross-circle shared agents (Typographer) are a new structural category not in Seb's model.

Built /audit skill — Claude Code skill at ~/.claude/skills/audit/SKILL.md. Scans thinking folder and vault inbox for organizational drift. Report-only; never acts without approval. Tested both scopes.

Thinking folder reorganization (commit e353110, 4a9f2dd):

Moved 5 loose root files to correct subfolders
Moved observer-problem/ (22 files) into l2-constitution/ — steward recognized this as constitutional material
Deleted stale entities.json (mempalace init artifact) and duplicate reviewer package
Resolved all 10 CURATION-MAP §4 ambiguous items (3 superseded, 2 live, 5 moved)
Updated CURATION-MAP statistics (57 → 95 files)
11 uncharted files flagged for future section placement

Vault inbox triage — /audit inbox found 65 files. 3 CRITICAL (API token, security questions, ID numbers), 5 contacts for People, 8 untriageable placeholders. Steward manually triaged to 16 remaining files.

Housekeeping:

Moved 3 PDFs from repos to ~/Desktop/pdf-housekeeping/
Added *.pdf to chamber-library .gitignore
Confirmed mempalace.yaml is actively used by miner (stays in place)

What we decided — and why

Observer-problem is L2 constitution material — CD-01/02/03 are constitutional declarations, OP-02 feeds ICP-19, fault lines are governance questions. Merged as subfolder to preserve provenance.
/audit skill is stateless for v1 — no .audit-state.json tracking deferred items. Adds complexity before we know the shape. Add in v2 if re-running surfaces too many known issues.
Four distinct collections management roles confirmed empirically — Auditor (detect drift), Cataloguer (route documents), Archivist (manage lifecycle), Index Maintainer (keep finding aids current). The skill does the Auditor's job well but delegates the other three to the steward. Documented in agent-circles/audit-skill-findings.md.
Agent circle organizing unit question for Seb meeting — David's circles organized by project, Seb's by function. The Typographer serves both circles. Which is primary — circle or role? Productive tension for the design conversation.

What's unresolved

README.md drift — thinking/README.md is missing 6 of David's 12 subfolders and has stale counts for 5 of 6 listed. Not updated this session.
11 uncharted l2-constitution files need section placement in CURATION-MAP (noted in §6)
Vault inbox — 16 files remain (2 contacts, 5 reference/admin, 5 texts, 3 Way of Code parts, 1 dashboard)
Chamber-library — 6 unpushed commits. Push blocked on Gitea LFS (same as ARC)
