Basic Memory v0.21.6 first sync over the live memory dir (steward-authorized
live-dir trial, Option A 2026-06-06): adds permalink: to frontmatter, refolds
long YAML description lines, strips final newlines. Bodies untouched —
verified via full diff classification. From this commit forward, any diff in
claude/memory shows only what Basic Memory or the session writes.

Trial design: MemPalace untouched as incumbent; git status check on this dir
at every wrap; end-of-day evaluation (recall quality, sync robustness,
rebuild-from-files, malformed-file behavior).

Relational Gap Analysis — Working State

Status: COMPLETE. Cluster A (I15/I16/I17) all AUTHORIZED. AF-7 CLOSED by ICP-19. Cluster B parked.

The Problem

Domain C (Knowledge Relationship) of the Seven-Root Braid was structurally under-specified: 2 strands, 2 invariants, where Domains A and B had 3 strands and 5-6 invariants each. Three gaps identified: accountability to present interlocutors (A), power asymmetry as governance input (B), cross-domain relational load (C).

What's Done (complete trail)

Step 1-2: Targeted Extractions (5/5 Tier 1 complete)

  • 00__harrison-vico-targeted-extraction.md → CP-1 through CP-4
  • 01__leopardi-targeted-extraction.md → CP-5 through CP-8
  • 02__levinas-targeted-extraction.md → CP-9 through CP-13
  • 03__fricker-targeted-extraction.md → CP-14 through CP-20 (7 new CPs; Spanish source text)
  • 04__oneill-targeted-extraction.md → ONE-CP-1 through ONE-CP-5
  • All in: CapableMind-AI/docs/thinking/David/l2-constitution/archive/relational-gap-analysis/
  • Tier 2 (Freire, Noddings) and Tier 3 deferred — Tier 1 coverage sufficient for integration

Step 3: Cross-Source Integration

  • 05__cross-source-integration.md — consolidates 25 CPs into 18 integrated candidate principles (ICPs)
  • Roman strand extraction (archive/braid-extractions/8_roman/) included as sixth source for corroboration + failure-mode vocabulary
  • 6 Tier 1, 7 Tier 2, 5 Tier 3 principles
  • Gap A: substantially closed (Levinas + Fricker + O'Neill converge)
  • Gap B: substantially closed (all five sources converge)
  • Gap C: advanced but thinnest — Noddings (Tier 2) would strengthen if needed

Step 4: Adversarial Review

  • 1 promoted to Tier 1 (ICP-9 Accusative Default)
  • 7 novel adversarial findings (AF-1 through AF-7)
  • Most dangerous: AF-1 (Self-Confirming Model Loop), AF-3 (Late-Republican Failure Pattern)
  • Critical gap: AF-7 — corpus lacks mandated external review mechanism

Step 5: Registry Amendment → Cluster A → ICP-19 (COMPLETE)

David's Prioritization (Cluster A → Cluster B)

Cluster A — Advance First

  1. I15/ICP-9 (Accusative Default) — posture foundation, most upstream, cleanest
  2. ICP-1 (Asymmetry Obligation) — most load-bearing, concrete modification path
  3. ICP-2 (Precedence of Present Expression) — live L1 risk (AF-1 already operative)

Cluster B — Advance Second

  1. ICP-5 (Non-Reciprocity) — after schema settled
  2. ICP-3 (Contestability) — after AF-5 tension resolved
  3. ICP-6 (Assessability) — in dialogue with ICP-17 design

Parallel Track — CLOSED

  • AF-7/C-R2 (Mandated External Review) — AUTHORIZED as ICP-19. First review cycle COMPLETE (2026-04-01). 13 findings, 9 resolved.

Key Architectural Findings

  • Slow erosion (Roman anacyclosis/interpretive drift) is more threatening than single-bypass across the board
  • The Late-Republican pattern: every formal check passes while relational substance drains — invisible to formal machinery
  • The Self-Confirming Model Loop (AF-1): classification pipelines using accumulated models in preprocessing create closed epistemic loops — a current L1 risk, not theoretical
  • The Governance Overhead Cascade (AF-2): self-referential — more principles → more mechanisms → more audit layers → more opacity
  • ICP-9 reverses the typical governance model: system begins under constraint, not from neutrality
