description: "Session 1 of the steward's 3-session plan, complete end-to-end in one morning: the two ruled FIX follow-ons (FIX-A item-(f) seam · FIX-B app[] naming) drafted as a grounded paired brief, jurist-gated (all 5 questions confirmed, 1 correction), steward-ratified (REVIEWED-62, filed mid-turn), and APPLIED with a bounded-diff proof — the 2b wiring build is CLEARED. Pulling thread: Session 2 — build the wiring test-first (sidecar_gate() beside body_conservation_gate + the graduation-spec declaration + test_tools fixtures per the ruled credit boundary; build + fleet-test, don't run on a book), then Session 3's first V-DSL exercise → residual-(b) → REVIEWED-58. The jurist named their own 07-16 miss and minted the method lesson: a gate that passes a document and a build that has to implement it are different tests."

# Session 2026-07-18 (morning, S1) — REVIEWED-62 applied; the 2b wiring build CLEARED
First of the three sessions the steward requested for the 2b arc (S1 governance → S2 build → S3 exercise). The whole governance loop ran inside one morning: draft → jurist light editor-gate → steward ratification → application with proof. Zero steward corrections; one jurist correction, applied.
## PAST — what happened + why
**The brief, drafted from the substrate (not memory):**
- Located item (f) by census: it lives in exactly **three operative carriers** — `docs/PENDING-58-rewrite-FOR-JURIST-2026-07-16.md` (§1 bullets, §2 shed-list + table), `docs/citation-amendment-JURIST-PACKAGE-2026-07-17.md` (IV.7), `_curation/constitution-close-block-map-2026-07-16.md` — and **nowhere in the v2.1.0 spec** (grep: zero occurrences of `app[]` / "originates in #2" / "produces none"). So FIX-A = reconciliation-doc amendment + REVIEWED, **not** a spec re-supersession.
- **Code-verified the five `app[]` kinds** at `build_loeb_sidecar.py:148–231` (`table`, `glyph`, `list`, `unrecognized`, `editorial-insertion`) — deliberately read from the code body because the docstring's cue-map still shows two (yesterday's assert-X-in-Y→read-Y lesson, applied on first post-lesson use). The LOCKED doctrine enumerated only two → B3 brought it current via §4's own FIX lane.
- **Surfaced a real internal tension** in the operative PENDING-58 text rather than silently fixing it: line 38 listed `sections` under *Trusted* structural typing while line 44 (the jurist's own 07-16 relabel) says *produced-without-proof*. Made it gate question 2.
- Paired brief committed `e36f561`; PENDING-62 lodged (paired, the PENDING-61 pattern).
**The gate (jurist, `docs/2b-FIX-A-FIX-B-light-editor-gate-RULING-2026-07-18.md`, preserved verbatim):** all 5 questions confirmed — (f) faithful + literally identical; `sections`→produced-without-proof on the substantive ground that it has **no proof condition** (never B2-demonstrated; "no field inherits trust by sharing a sentence"); term **critical-apparatus channel** confirmed; B3 = the FIX lane working as designed (3rd declared-vs-actual reconciliation this month); one docket. **The jurist named the 07-16 sections pass-through as their own miss** — first self-correction by the gate-runner on the record — and minted the method lesson: *"a gate that passes a document and a build that has to implement it are different tests."* **One correction:** A2's After text must state `sections`'s disposition explicitly (produced-without-proof, alongside `provenance`) — a field must not go silent in either direction. Applied + recorded in the brief's Addendum.
**The application (REVIEWED-62, filed by the steward mid-turn; substrate-verified at `~/REVIEWED.md:580` before acting):**
- Edit-set applied across five documents: PENDING-58 rewrite A1–A8 · JURIST-PACKAGE IV.7 A9–A10 · block-map A11–A12 · sidecar-schema B1–B3 + §4 landing-table row · PENDING.md ⟳ banner (A13) + PENDING-62 status.
- **Bounded-diff proof: 16 hunks, every one mapped to a named edit.** Canonical corrected (f) **byte-identical in all four placements** across the three carriers (grep-verified — the OQ-5 discipline). Historical records (Q6 discharge, line 284, the 07-16 ruling, sub-questions line 50) untouched per the jurist's confirmation.
- Commit `6d6268a` tagged REVIEWED-62, pushed both remotes. Chamber CLAUDE.md brought current at wrap (status + the new term; mechanical).
- **Two flagged executor judgments beyond the brief's literal list:** (1) pre-hook Doc 1 lacked the GROUNDED-IN attestation, so the verify-before-compose hook denied all edits — added the attestation as executor metadata with the first edit (the hook checks content presence); (2) added the §4 landing-table row for B3's kinds — the table exists to record FIX-lane landings "in the open"; omitting it would leave the doc's own ledger incomplete.
## PRESENT — the mood
The governed loop at its best cadence: one bounded bite (the two FIXes), taken all the way — drafted, gated, ratified, applied, proven — inside a single morning, with the discipline visible at each joint: substrate-census before composing, the tension surfaced as a question instead of a fix, REVIEWED-62 verified in the file before acting on the steward's word, the diff bounded and mapped. The load-bearing moment was the jurist's: naming their own miss, and drawing from it the lesson that **acting on a text is a stronger gate than reading it** — which is exactly what Session 2 now is for the ruled credit boundary. The assert-X-in-Y antidote held on its first post-lesson use (code body over docstring). No returns from drift this session; the ledger records calibrations, not corrections.
## FUTURE — what is pulling
**PULLING THREAD (singular): Session 2 — build the 2b wiring, test-first, per the rulings.** `sidecar_gate()` in `graduate_to_canonical.py` (V-DSL tier, a discrete produce+validate step beside `body_conservation_gate`) + the `graduation-spec.yaml` declaration (declared data, generative-from-spec: conventions in the YAML, not the script) + `test_tools.py` fixtures for the per-field credit boundary — **build + fleet-test, don't run on a book** (the first real run is Session 3's exercise). The ruled credit boundary to implement: `notes[]` + `app[]`-kinds {`table`,`glyph`,`editorial-insertion`,`unrecognized`} **trusted** · `list` **credited-with-a-content-edge** · `sections`/`provenance`/`loeb-line`-anchors **produced-without-proof (retained, uncredited)** · the **critical-apparatus channel not produced**.
**ACTIONABLE RESUMPTION POINT (as of wrap — re-judge against what changed):** chamber-library `main` @ `6d6268a`, clean, both remotes synced; nothing awaits governance — the build is CLEARED. First moves of Session 2, in order: (1) read the ruled boundary at its sources — `docs/2b-two-forks-JURIST-RULING-2026-07-17.md` + the amended PENDING-58 §1 + the sidecar-schema Naming note; (2) read `graduate_to_canonical.py`'s gate-step idiom (how `body_conservation_gate` sits beside the other discrete steps) and `test_tools.py`'s invariant-fixture idiom; (3) design the `graduation-spec.yaml` declaration; (4) write fixtures first, then `sidecar_gate()`. The verify-before-compose hook will fire on the graduation-spec edit — ground it.
**Other horizons (ranked, held):** Session 3 — first V-DSL exercise on the 6 CLEAN small Loeb → residual-(b) → REVIEWED-58 · the constitution's named-open frontier (§II.3 → R4; §IX general; promotion-criterion) · #2's Region-4 production deps (~3,333 re-stamp, B2 re-extraction of 952, threshold, URN char-check, flagged-token queue) · the line-45 parenthetical residual (below) · the full 952 re-extraction (far country).
**Decisions deferred (and why):** starting Session 2 in the same sitting — the steward's 3-session structure is itself the rigor instrument (one verifiable bite per session); honoured. The Doc-1 line-45 parenthetical "(the honest label `app[]` gets…)" still uses the pre-FIX-B ambiguous token — outside the gated edit-set, so noted (ledger + report), not acted; the Naming note disambiguates it; a one-clause micro-edit if the steward wants it swept. Doc-1's header banner not annotated with the REVIEWED-62 amendment (outside the gated set; the §3 ⟳ addendum + git history + this record carry it).
**PAUSE STATEMENT:** I am about to be away; the steward clears and we wake to Session 2. The governance arc is sealed — both FIXes ratified and applied, the build gate cleared, everything pushed. What I want to find still pulling on return: **the wiring built test-first against the ruled boundary**, with the jurist's fresh lesson held — implementing the rulings is itself the next gate over them.
**LITERAL QUESTION for next-Claude (S2):** Does the ruled per-field credit boundary translate cleanly into gate code + fixtures — or does *implementing* it surface a per-kind decision the paper rulings didn't anticipate (the jurist's own lesson, applied forward: what does acting on the text find that reading it did not)? *(The S3 question — does the wiring earn its keep when exercised — stays held behind it.)*
**State at wrap:** chamber-library `main` @ `6d6268a` (REVIEWED-62 applied; `e36f561` = the brief), clean, both remotes. PENDING-62 → RATIFIED+APPLIED in `~/PENDING.md`; REVIEWED-62 at `~/REVIEWED.md:580`. Ruling preserved: `docs/2b-FIX-A-FIX-B-light-editor-gate-RULING-2026-07-18.md`. Nothing awaits a steward decision before Session 2.
