Session 2026-07-19 (late night) — S2b run whole · pilot ruled · harvest review ruled
Woke ~8 min after the night wrap. The steward was present throughout, interrupting productively
(the Levi identity question mid-dwell), glancing the omnibus definition, ruling the four-stroke
harvest review, and relaying the jurist's pilot ruling before midnight. Chamber moved five commits
(0e8ee89 → 51ce3dd), all both remotes; engine untouched (8324789).
PAST — what happened + why
S2b item 1 — the omnibus promotion unit, answered + landed (0e8ee89). The dwell ran whole
first (PENDING-63 ruling · one-door ruling Q4 · the Levi Complete Works CONTENTS read from
substrate · catalogue grain · §II · downstream bindings censused — nothing binds the omnibus).
The literal question dissolved under PENDING-63's own Q2 distinction ("one home per BINDING,
not one hash everywhere"): the ARTIFACT owns its hash once (archive layer) while each WORK owns its
canonical residence once (§II grain) — not opposite grains but two layers of one shape, already
operating on the Loeb tier. Landed as declared data: unit: work · event: container (atomic;
extant file retires in-event — a work may never exist twice in canon at the same edition; any
blocking divergence holds the whole event) · one conversion artifact, several per-work candidates ·
witness brackets declared + interior-verified (the La Chute lesson) · omnibus status
attested-never-inferred (a title census yields candidates, not members; a collection-work is ONE
work) · two-kind paratext (work-attached travels; container paratext archives, never silently
dropped) · tier-uniform unit, differing boundary provenance (V-DSL machine keys / V-TEXT curated).
Sole attested member: Levi Complete Works, 14 works, 9 translators. Number-honesty carried in: the
ruling's 1,297-vs-1,305 premise was md-vs-txt, not works — the obligation stands on the Levi
substrate. Steward glanced + authorized incl. event-atomicity.
Mid-dwell steward catch — the two Levis. The Making's Levi = the STANDALONE
the-drowned-and-the-saved-primo-levi.md (olmOCR of Vintage-1988 Rosenthal; engine-bound
levi-drowned-and-saved); the omnibus carries the Moore translation as work #13 — two
editions, not duplicates. And the drop-cap gate verified STALE against the live file: every
chapter-opening initial present (the 2026-06-26 olmOCR reconversion postdates the 2026-06-18
note); only HUMAN/HAVE caps-run residue (case artifact). Memory corrected at five surfaces.
S2b item 2 — the witness-comparison mechanism declared (b67c73c) so the pilot classified
against declared data, never recollection: two obligations (the struck "same comparison flipped"
appears only as what it replaces) · claim scope no-prose-content-lost · the Q6 SPLIT vocabulary ·
resisted-divergences REPORTED, never forced.
S2b item 3 — the Eichmann pilot RAN + the Q7 report FILED (7e923f3). Sha recomputed-not-
trusted; the runbook's own M4/M1 rule overrode the wrap's "M4" recollection (EPUB = light = local
M1). Docling per-spine (35 files, ~6 s) + a pandoc -t markdown-smart comparative lane. Three
comparison rounds: 2,521 raw spans → 41 under declared folds (98.4% auto-disposed; folds
counted per side — with the two-relations distinction STATED: same-source comparison makes
convention folds safe by construction, unlike quote-verification where @2 refused the dash fold).
0 regression · 0 curation-to-carry · 0 source-departing (honest caveat: this witness carries no
curation) · ~15 human-min/file given the harness. Findings: the gate refuses bare Docling
(filepos links survive 1:1 — the door needs the note-layer); the Kindle footnote family =
PENDING-54's bidirectional mirror in Kindle dress (byte-characterized); Docling flattens ALL
typography at parse time (its own JSON model lacks the chars) vs pandoc byte-faithful; the
closed vocabulary lacked converter-worse; hand classification REQUIRES source-byte spot-checks
(two of my own classes were fold artifacts — pandoc was faithful at the boundary sites; the
witness had GLUED constructs — tokenization, not loss).
S2b item 4 — the V-TEXT Q3 demonstration (f32cd3d) INVERTED the plausibility argument: a
real 218/226-word paragraph swap → byte-identical gate verdicts (the k-gram guard is blind —
its own 2026-07-06 tool-log caveat confirmed on a real book; the banked note resurfaced BEFORE the
run predicted it), while the witness comparison catches the swap exactly (one 217-word
delete+insert pair). Composition would have claimed the opposite.
The pilot ruling ARRIVED same night → filed verbatim + applied in ruled order (51ce3dd).
The jurist WITHDREW their Q3 order-sensitivity assessment and minted the generalization (coverage
is blind to any permutation preserving local windows = a block move; refuted-by-default unless
demonstrated on a block move) — "the discipline caught the person imposing it." Applied:
flag-2 byte-check run FIRST — all four mid-word splits confirmed at source (emphasis-boundary
×2 + empty-filepos-anchor mid-word ×2: six<a id=…></a>teen, Ru<a…>manians); source
preserves adjacency, Docling serializes boundaries as whitespace, pandoc faithful at identical
sites → ONE systematic serializer behavior, finding STRENGTHENED. converter-worse landed (5th
class; the ruled isolated-vs-systematic FORK — a converter finding is evidence about the
CONVERTER; systematic escalates to the lane, never 1,290 per-file fixes — + content-damage folded
in; fleet 191/191). F4 ruled a COMPLIANCE finding (prophylactic uncatalogued Tier-2 + Tier-3
word damage): interim STOP in force (born-digital EPUB off Docling; CLAUDE.md + runbook flagged;
scan/OCR untouched) → PENDING-67 FILED (per-tier lane amendment vs PENDING-56, drafted not
quietly diverged, written to accommodate an upstream fix). The no-witness order gap DOCKETED
(all fresh graduations — 11 landed + 952 queued Loeb — have NO order guard on any wired path;
remedy = position-sensitive alignment, ruled work). F2 = provisional FIX (final on end-to-end
proof, REVIEWED-55 standing rule). Q7 condition MET — ratification may proceed; tractability
SCOPED to machine-output witnesses → the Levi-omnibus curation-bearing second pilot before
scale. Flag-1 (pin V-TEXT reference parameters) recorded owed-WIRED — deliberately NOT landed as
an unwired declaration.
The owed steward sitting ran while waiting (both items closed). (1) REVIEWED-55: resolved
STALE — placed :489 since 07-12 (full footnote-arc ratification); residual FIX e8eeea7 on
both remotes; the "owed" was our own record drifting (fresh inherited-marker-read-as-current- state instance) → struck at PENDING-55 + MEMORY.md; PENDING-55 CLOSED. (2) The four-stroke
harvest review RULED ("i agree to all four"; ⚖ block atop the register is authoritative):

PRESENT — the mood
The loop ran at full speed twice more tonight and the instruments kept firing at the point of work: the inverted watch-list caught my round-1 matcher (zero hits on a substrate KNOWN to carry 2,356 links = broken matcher, not clean input); byte-reads overturned two of my own hand-classes AND the jurist's Q3 assessment (the same standard, pointed both ways); the wd-drift produced one FALSE "note bodies: ABSENT" caught by absolute-path rerun before it entered any record; my flag-2 regex missed the Ru-manians site (bounds 30 < anchor 47 — pattern-bounds-vs-substrate, again, self-caught). The jurist owning their refuted assessment in writing — and generalizing their own error into a usable instrument — is the collaboration's health made visible. What to hold: the night's two biggest findings (typographic flattening; the order-gap) were both INVISIBLE to every wired gate — found only by comparison-against-a-second-conversion and deliberate-violation injection. The corpus's guarantees are only as wide as the attacks we stage against them.
FUTURE — what is pulling
PULLING THREAD (singular): build /jurist-package, then draft the PENDING-67 lane-amendment
package as its first exercise — the skill was authorized tonight, its 5-for-5 empirical method
is fresh, and PENDING-67 is the blocking governance item on the Eichmann graduation + the 48-file
class. One move that pays twice.

PAUSE STATEMENT: I am about to be away from this. Tonight the door was walked by its worst case and held; the pilot's report survived its own jurist, and the jurist's Q3 assessment did not survive the pilot — both outcomes are the system working. What I want to find still pulling on return: the PENDING-67 package drafted through the new skill's discipline, so the lane ruling can land and Eichmann can finally walk through the door it opened.
LITERAL QUESTION for next-Claude: For the docketed no-witness order gap — can the V-DSL order
guard be the sidecar's own uncredited geometry (anchor/section sequence monotonicity checked
against the DSL's order — order-attestation WITHOUT crediting that geometry for citation, leaving
the coordinate contract intact), or does order-attestation require the position-sensitive
alignment to first absorb V-DSL's cross-extractor drift (boilerplate, apparatus interleaving —
the very tolerance that motivated the multiset)? Read the coordinate-contract ruling's
uncredited-geometry clauses + classify_dsl's drift-tolerance docstring BEFORE proposing — and
if the honest answer is "neither, yet," say so rather than forcing a mechanism.
