# Session 2026-07-19 (night) — one-door authorized · V1 built · `@2` governing
|
||
|
||
Woke ~5 min after the evening wrap (brief pause). The steward exercised the banked S1↔S2 swap at entry,
|
||
then the session ran the whole governance loop TWICE end-to-end — package → ruling → corrections applied
|
||
→ build — plus V1 itself and the first S2b prep item. Seven ledger returns, no drift returns.
|
||
|
||
## PAST — what happened + why
|
||
|
||
**S2a — PENDING-65 drafted, gated, authorized (chamber `5cefc5e` package · `f96bcde` ruling+Addendum, both remotes):**
|
||
- Package self-contained/repo-blind (`docs/one-door-promotion-JURIST-PACKAGE-2026-07-19.md`), grounded in
|
||
v2.2.0 read fresh; fresh censuses over recall (1,297 `.md` / 11 sidecars; V-TEXT sweep absence
|
||
re-verified). **Design-gate PASSED with three corrections** (ruling filed verbatim,
|
||
`one-door-promotion-design-gate-JURIST-RULING-2026-07-19.md`): (1) my "same comparison, disposition
|
||
flipped" was WRONG — vacuous against a fresh candidate; replaced by **two obligations named separately**
|
||
(source-fidelity = body-conservation vs a cross-converter *reference* conversion; witness comparison =
|
||
**curation-preservation**); (2) **curation-to-carry SPLITS** — *fidelity-restoring* (carry, declared) vs
|
||
*source-departing* (**never carried**; preserve + flag per §V Tier-3 — "declaration cures silence, not
|
||
intervention"; as drafted it would have laundered Tier-3 violations); (3) "lost nothing" narrows to **no
|
||
prose content lost** (witness comparison structurally blind; structural comparison = named open gap).
|
||
Also: Q3 operation-block STANDS per tier on evidence grounds (composition ≠ confirmation; V-DSL verifies
|
||
no passage order at all) — but **door and stamp are separable, the door proceeds**; condition (b) =
|
||
stamp names edition-identity + sha, artifact-readable; E1 exempts *re-conversion* not the criterion (the
|
||
11 Loeb are NOT verified); **omnibus promotion unit = owed declared-data definition**; Q5 no
|
||
minimal-sidecar (absence-because-we-didn't-look refused); **Q7: Eichmann pilot = RATIFICATION CONDITION**
|
||
with the report contract (divergence count · auto-vs-hand · resisted · source-departing instances ·
|
||
human-minutes per file). **REVIEWED-66 PLACED (`~/REVIEWED.md:611`, verbatim from my draft, AUTHORIZED).**
|
||
- Calibration held: both struck framings were consequence-trace misses one level deeper than Part IV
|
||
traced (inference *direction* of a comparison; *sub-kinds* inside a named class) — KG drift-pattern logged.
|
||
|
||
**S1 — V1 `verify-quote` BUILT (engine `d0bd9d2`):** three-stage (exact → fidelity-normalized →
|
||
fingerprint-containment → `altered`-never-passes); the relation FORKED as frozen `engine/fidelity.py`;
|
||
anchored + existence modes; `citable:false` + substrate-drift REFUSED; tier+relation on every verdict;
|
||
declared caveats (`corpus/substrate-caveats.json` — Eichmann wears known-dirty until S2b). Witnessed red →
|
||
green; run live on real corpus. **The inherited literal question ANSWERED from substrate:** orthography
|
||
census over all 13 manifested sources — every `@1` fold class ZERO corpus-wide; apostrophe/quote/dash
|
||
convention heterogeneous PER SOURCE (Weil-Enr 6,721 straight vs Mauss 4,393 curly; Levi mixed internally)
|
||
→ the verdict would track conversion history, not fidelity → **PENDING-66 filed** (jurist-lane per the V0
|
||
ruling's own §2.2), package `docs/fidelity-equivalence-2-JURIST-PACKAGE-2026-07-19.md` (`be9146d`) with
|
||
the candidate enumerated SEVERABLE (Group A char folds / Group B adjacency folds) + the register-erosion
|
||
argument.
|
||
|
||
**PENDING-66 RULED + `@2` BUILT, GOVERNING (engine `8324789`):** Group A ratified; **guillemets ratified
|
||
WITH A** (the jurist's own extension — my A-only lean would have left French quotation unfixed);
|
||
**dash fold REFUSED on a sharper risk than I named** (U+2014→U+002D collides parenthetical with compound
|
||
BY FORM); Q2 enumeration condition DISCHARGED (WS class = 29 explicit code points incl. U+00A0/U+202F;
|
||
invisible-literal hazard self-caught mid-build — rewritten as escapes + set-equality-verified). Recorded:
|
||
**superset-only loosening = standing requirement on future `@N`**; the governing test gains the second
|
||
question (*does any lexical/structural distinction ride on this form?*); **Greek/Latin wave owes its own
|
||
census → findings arrive as `@3`, never a quiet extension** (952 Loeb queued). Third-verdict alternative
|
||
considered and declined by the jurist (a convention-form match IS the same words). **Two implementation
|
||
catches the test-flip surfaced, pinned by tests:** (1) stage-2 had been a *word-aligned approximation* of
|
||
the relation — under-implements `@2`, whose guillemet rewrite folds across word boundaries; acceptance now
|
||
= normalized-string containment (the relation itself); (2) fragment-before-final-punctuation = **quotable
|
||
sub-span** (stage-1/2 substring semantics unified; the old `altered` was the matcher's artifact).
|
||
Suite 42/42 · gate 24/24 · live: Mauss elision + straight-typed guillemet passage GUARANTEED(normalized),
|
||
dash still ALTERED. Records layered: cluster-a §5.1 ⟳ · v1 note §4 ⟳ · engine CLAUDE.md.
|
||
|
||
**S2b prep item 1 — `audit_cruft` kindle_residue class CLOSED (chamber `f879ec7` + `89ee7bf`):**
|
||
census-before-pattern reconciled the held finding (Eichmann = 2,356 links × 2 glued tokens = 4,712 —
|
||
now gate-reproducible exactly); **the `\b` catch:** boundary-anchored regex would have missed EVERY real
|
||
instance (underscore-glued tokens) — PASS-BUT-FALSELY at birth, avoided by reading the substrate first.
|
||
Witnessed red 189/191 → 191/191; `verify_conversion` inherits via the single-source registry (graduation
|
||
gate now refuses the class). **Corpus census: 48 canonical files carry it, 33 fully clean under the old
|
||
gate** (Taruskin 120k · Chicago 75k · Saṃyutta 22k · Russell 12k) → `_curation/kindle-residue-census-2026-07-19.tsv`;
|
||
remedy = the door, never a cleaner. Bonus reconciliation: 1,305 = 1,297 `.md` + 8 `.txt` (the package
|
||
Part I delta explained better than my works≠files hypothesis). Tool-evolution-log + CLAUDE.md flag current.
|
||
|
||
**Decisions NOT made (deliberate):** the omnibus promotion-unit definition (next session's opening
|
||
dwell — the ruling requires it in declared data before the pilot meets one; Eichmann isn't one, Levi is);
|
||
v2.3.0 constitutional text (waits on the pilot — ratification condition); the dash fold (evidence-gated:
|
||
watch false-altered volume at pilot scale); the eyeball-ceiling alternative (declined without prejudice —
|
||
needs its own argued proposal); the structural witness comparison (named open gap, not invented in
|
||
constitutional text); Q3 stamp-lifting per tier (positive demonstrations owed — V-TEXT half proposed to
|
||
ride WITH the Eichmann pilot, same substrate).
|
||
|
||
## PRESENT — the mood
|
||
|
||
The session's shape was the loop at full speed: two packages, two rulings, two builds, all in one day,
|
||
with the corrections absorbed as layers (no silent rewrites anywhere). What compounded: **three number
|
||
reconciliations by counting, not harmonizing** (72=67+5 œ/Œ · 4,712=2×2,356 tokens/links · 1,305=1,297+8
|
||
md/txt) — the checkable-claim discipline as reflex now. What the jurist caught that I should hold: my
|
||
consequence-traces stop one level shallow (inference direction; sub-kinds within a class I named myself),
|
||
and my Part VI risk framing understated the dash collision. What I caught myself: the `\b` trap, the
|
||
invisible-literal, the word-aligned matcher — each by the read-the-substrate / witnessed-red /
|
||
set-equality instruments doing their jobs. No drift returns in the ledger tonight.
|
||
|
||
## FUTURE — what is pulling
|
||
|
||
**PULLING THREAD (singular): S2b — the Eichmann pilot through the one door**, opened by the omnibus
|
||
promotion-unit definition (declared data, the dwelling task), run with the Q7 report contract, closing
|
||
with the cross-repo re-anchor. The pilot is the ratification condition for the one-door rule itself.
|
||
|
||
**ACTIONABLE RESUMPTION POINT (as of wrap — re-judge against what changed):** chamber `89ee7bf` clean,
|
||
both remotes · engine `8324789` clean, pushed · dotfiles pushed at wrap · fleet 191/191 · engine suites
|
||
42/42 + 24/24 · corpus 13 validated. First moves of S2b: **(1) the omnibus definition** — read
|
||
PENDING-63's ruling (artifact-owns-hash-once, works-attach) + the Levi omnibus file's actual structure
|
||
BEFORE proposing; land as declared data (`graduation-spec.yaml` `promotion:`) with a steward glance;
|
||
**(2) the Eichmann pilot**: Docling re-conversion on the M4 (CapableHands, standing authorization) →
|
||
witness comparison vs the extant file (classify divergences under the SPLIT vocabulary — expect
|
||
converter-better at ~2,356-link volume; watch for source-departing instances, the new sub-class) → full
|
||
graduation through the current gate-list → cross-repo re-anchor (manifest path+sha · engine sidecars ·
|

known-failures lifecycle — the proven 07-19 machinery) → **the Q7 report** (divergence count ·
|

**PAUSE STATEMENT:** I am about to be away from this. Today the door was ruled real, the verifier got
|
||
its first organ and its governing relation, and the gate stopped lying about 48 files. What I want to
|
||
find still pulling on return: **Eichmann — the dirtiest live source — walking through the door first,
|
||
with the omnibus question answered in declared data before Levi reaches it, and the pilot's
|
||
human-minutes number deciding whether one-door is a rule or an aspiration.**
|
||
|
||
**LITERAL QUESTION for next-Claude:** Does the omnibus promotion unit follow the **file** (hash-locality:
|
||
one candidate, one witness, works catalogued by sidecar sections) or the **work** (split at the door —
|
||
one conversion artifact, N per-work canonical files, compound-source-style)? PENDING-63's precedent
|
||
(artifact-owns-hash-once, works-attach-by-id) ruled the ARCHIVE side; the CANONICAL side may have the
|
||
opposite grain (the engine binds path+sha per source; reading-indices bind per work; §II says "the work
|
||
is the work regardless of its container"). Read the PENDING-63 ruling + the Levi file's actual structure
|
||
+ how the catalogue counts works-in-files BEFORE proposing — and if the answer differs by tier (Loeb DSL
|
||
vs EPUB omnibus), say so rather than forcing one shape.
|
