I had proposed tap-to-expand before thinking through whether it fit the method; the steward's "is there a better way?" surfaced the reflex. Reasoned from method (rule is load-bearing, not peripheral) rather than defending the prior implementation. Registered as successful pattern: resisting the flatter-and-tweak pull when invited to actually reason.

• Two attribution errors in yesterday's surface-registration caught:
