Basic Memory v0.21.6 first sync over the live memory dir (steward-authorized live-dir trial, Option A 2026-06-06): adds permalink: to frontmatter, refolds long YAML description lines, strips final newlines. Bodies untouched — verified via full diff classification. From this commit forward, any diff in claude/memory shows only what Basic Memory or the session writes. Trial design: MemPalace untouched as incumbent; git status check on this dir at every wrap; end-of-day evaluation (recall quality, sync robustness, rebuild-from-files, malformed-file behavior). My logged drift `asserting-fs-state-from-a-misread-listing`. (b) Then nearly dismissed the CORRECT clean tally (glimpse 193 / essay 9) as absurd, anchored on a false prior that essay is corpus-dominant; controlled `grep -lE` count confirmed glimpse IS dominant (193/220). Drift: anchoring-on-prior-expectation-against-correct-data. Lesson: mechanical sweeps in this shell are finicky; verify every count two ways before it enters the record.

- 2026-05-29 — Reorder return. Had started vignette Phase 1 (read-only recon only — survey + tooling, zero code). Steward reframed: "is this the right order? we have major audits to finish Stage F."
