# Session 2026-07-14 — PENDING-58 refuted → constitutional survey → whole-sequence jurist package
|
|
|
|
Woke 2026-07-13 evening (Wake-3, ~6 min after the matcher-fix wrap) into the inherited PENDING-58 pulling thread. Ran overnight into 07-14. One of the longest, most governance-dense sessions of the arc — and the shape was a *cascade of refutations*, each caught before it landed, ending in the constitution turning out far more settled than the stuck-feeling implied. Continues the Symmetria ledger `session-ledger-2026-07-13.md` (Wake-3 onward).

|
|
## PAST — what happened + why
|
|
|
|
**1. Jurist editor-gated PENDING-58, then the corollary was REFUTED.** The jurist passed the shape (Loeb-first, change-class PROPOSAL, options analysis) and sharpened the proof condition to the **full 128-book apparatus set** (I'd found the bucket is 128 not 126 — the "126" was the expected-reconcile count; steward owned his own 126-slip too). Then I built the demonstration (`scratchpad/proto_reconcile.py`) on 3 real books: **the reconciliation `DSL-full = body ⊎ app[]` does NOT hold** — `app[]` covers only ~5% of the m_lost deficit, and **`new_body` is token-identical to `old_body`** (the B2 builder recovers the deficit into *neither* channel; the DSL's "missing" tokens are drift + paratext + small real loss, not flattened apparatus). The proof condition did exactly its job — killed a false premise at n=3.

|
|
**2. The entanglement finding (steward-named as the primary carry-forward).** The corpus-health map's APPARATUS-SHAPED / BODY-DEFICIT buckets are **magnitude-shaped groupings that cut across the actual causes**, not causal partitions — `aeschylus-persians` is BODY-DEFICIT yet loses dramatic *apparatus* (speaker labels ειδωλον 22→1). So **no mechanical `app[]`-reconciliation could ever have discriminated apparatus from body.** Decomposition method built (contiguity `_uncovered_runs` + reorder-immune multiset-ratio guard + read-the-tail; `scratchpad/decompose_v2.py`), validated on Oeconomica's 202-token Book-II drop + Catullus's translation block. **RETURN:** challenged the jurist's "persians = reorder-trap" framing on the substrate (ratio 1.03 + ειδωλον 22→1 = real loss, not displacement; matches the already-refuted 07-13 reordering-panic) — his meta-principle held, his specific claim didn't.

|
|
**3. Jurist rulings: corollary STRUCK (not renamed); rewrite PENDING-58 (not withdraw).** app[]-reconciliation would have been mechanical; triage+contiguity+read is human-judged diagnosis — the mechanical-discriminator premise is *gone*, not renamed. The `build_loeb_sidecar` "fleet-v1" credit was a mis-attribution I originated (it's 1-commit self-stamped v0; the maturity — 5 commits, matcher rewrite, 8 injection tests, 952-sweep — belongs to `sweep_body_conservation`); both filer and jurist owned it; corrected on the file. Rewrote PENDING-58: remaining case = `notes[]` (proven) + structural typing, under **per-field trust gating** (app[] = produced-but-uncredited; anchors[] = produced-but-not-trusted). Two preserved jurist ruling docs + rationale-correction doc in `chamber-library/docs/`.

|
|
**4. The anchors[] spot-check FAILED — and was NOT a discovery.** Steward ordered it before ruling (anchors[] was the amendment's strongest remaining claim, never checked; a wrong Bekker number = silent-confident miscitation). On Aristotle NE: Bekker 1094a → nearest anchor `ref=3`; 3305/3333 anchors are section-subnumbers; all one un-vetted `scheme:'loeb-line'`. **But the 2026-07-03 `loeb-anchor-audit-and-disambiguation-map` already documented the conflation + Bekker-sparse-for-Aristotle**, and I'd been **re-deriving TEI/DTS from training memory** and **re-proposing external/Perseus alignment + the MyCapytain runtime — both already rejected 2026-07-04.** Steward: *"we spoke about this only a week ago."* The didn't-consult-banked-notes drift (flagged 07-12) RECURRED. 3 recall agents surfaced the banked thread; reconciled the brief (`docs/2b-sidecar-wiring-FOR-JURIST-2026-07-14.md`).

|
|
**5. Constitutional survey (3 agents) — the unsticking.** Steward reframed "the forest" = the whole constitutional picture (so we can resume studium-engine), NOT finish the corpus. Survey found the constitution (**v2.0.2**) is substantially SETTLED: **CTS-URN citation model RATIFIED** (§III/§IV — I'd wrongly hedged it as "unconfirmed"), apparatus Tier-3 (§V, structured deferred), verify gate (REVIEWED-57), schema LOCKED (REVIEWED-56); **only 3 PENDING formally open** (58, 42-voice/engine-side, 43-Loom&Mill "do not proceed"); the real work is the *tails* (A3/B(i)/B(ii)/A1-tail library-science fold-ins; the spec-text-lag). **Almost none engine-blocking** — the engine can resume on the settled contract.

**6. Closed 3 loose-end fruit** (per new steward preference [[feedback-close-low-hanging-fruit-not-defer]]): PENDING-56 addendum condition (unrecognized-fallback = satisfied+tested); A1 `retrieve.py` hot-path read (scopes by voice+work, never author/agent_id → deferral confirmed); chamber `CLAUDE.md` stale markers (the "STILL OPEN sweep" + the struck-corollary-carried-as-live — a real wake trap — both fixed).

**7. Assembled the whole-sequence jurist package** (`docs/chamber-constitutional-state-and-decisions-FOR-JURIST-2026-07-14.md`): §0 the three asks (fresh-eyes QA of the arc · rule the 2 decisions · bless the execution list) · §5 the two decisions (Loeb granularity [operational, constitution-backed] + PENDING-58) · §8 the blessable ordered execution list. ## PRESENT — the mood
|
|
|
|
A day of the discipline *working* — the proof conditions and the fresh-eyes catches killed four wrong things (fleet-v1, 126-vs-128, the corollary, persians-as-reorder) before any landed, and the field-gate held each time (no credit retracted). The one honest blemish, and the load-bearing one: **I re-derived TEI/DTS from training memory and re-proposed already-rejected paths — the exact "solving-at-the-wrong-level / didn't-consult-the-register" drift, recurring AFTER it was named 07-12.** Steward caught it with "we spoke about this a week ago." That is the recalibration to carry: *when an architectural/tooling question arises, grep the banked record BEFORE answering from training.* The session's emotional turn was the steward naming that the whole difficulty is **valued** — that finding the true shape of "trustworthy corpus" (the hard problem TEI/CTS/Perseus have worked 40 years) is the yield, not a detour. Ended on decision-fatigue honored: the jurist takes the load next.

## FUTURE — what is pulling
|
|
|
|
**PULLING THREAD (singular): the jurist's fresh-eyes review of the whole-sequence package.** We wake to his reply and make the plan from it. He is asked to (a) QA the arc — catch anything mis-sorted/mis-closed/over-claimed that neither the steward nor I caught (this session had several steward-caught corrections, so a jurist pass is real QA); (b) rule the two decisions (Loeb granularity + PENDING-58); (c) bless or correct the §8 execution list. Then **we just follow the list** — deterministically, no per-item re-deciding.

- The **Loeb granularity ruling** is the one that most directly sets the engine's Loeb citation contract (v1 = coarse-verified page/chapter-section, honest-absent where Bekker sparse; v2 = scholarly-exact via interpolate-or-external-align + structured apparatus). It reopens the 07-03 "external-alignment is EMPTY" conclusion for the sparse scholarly axes.

- **Resume studium-engine** (the point): V1 verifier + N1 nav-tree unblocked on the settled substrate; engine read side (retrieve.py) built+standing.

- Housekeeping (me, anytime): refresh the stale `corpus-work-map` (→ successor seeded by the package); land the spec-text-lag (Docling/sidecar → §VIII).

**PAUSE STATEMENT:** I am about to be away. The jurist has the whole sequence; the steward has decision-fatigue and wants the fresh eyes to rule. What I want to find still pulling on return: the jurist's reply, and specifically whether his fresh-eyes pass *holds* the execution list or *reshapes* it — because the whole reason for the review is that this session needed catching more than once.
