Post-/clear ARC session. Woke on the Levi pulling thread; the steward deferred Levi to tomorrow/Saturday ("when I can dedicate 100% attention" — the right call; verbatim-fidelity work asks for full attention) and redirected to ARC: harvest the versioning skill, ARC stragglers, and a CV update for a package to the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

||
## PAST — what we did
|
||
|
||
### A. The CV (the package) — SHIPPED
|
||
- **Jurist reviewed the CV** (steward pasted it). The only real website change: a **Guest Principal Engagements** entry (Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Valencia, Feb–Mar 2026). The jurist's nationalities line + recordings-bullet reformatting were COE-submission paste-artifacts → kept OFF the public site (steward: "essentially unchanged"). Applied to en/fr/es. Committed `9a9da31` (with the content-types.yml regen, below), deployed.

- **The COE submission version** the steward had already settled himself; the jurist paste was just context.
|
||
- **The title-block reframe** (the session's craft arc): steward flagged that "Guest Principal Engagements" was an h2 while "Principal Viola" was a bold label — guest drew the eye more than his main work.
|
||
- **Key posture fact discovered:** ARC `strong, b { font-style: italic; font-weight: normal }` — **banish-bold §I.d**. So the bold role-labels were never bold; the real mismatch was *heading vs italic-label*. Hierarchy in ARC comes from the heading scale + italic + silence, never bold.
|
||
- Discussed 3 in-posture options; steward chose **A**: role-labels become **h3** sub-headings (§I.d gentle scale — 1.728rem, body weight, no bold) under the Current Positions h2. First body h3 on any about page; previewed via headless screenshot.
|
||
- **The redundant "Curriculum Vitae" page-title — solved by RE-ASSIGN, not suppress.** The morning's instinct (suppress the about-title h1 via a per-piece title_display override) had over-reached into the Stage-G machinery (see B). The better answer, found by stepping back: the title was *mis-assigned*. Set frontmatter `title:` to the **name** (David F. Glidden → about-title h1 leads with the name, as a CV should); drop the duplicate body `# David F. Glidden`; keep "Curriculum Vitæ · Viola" as the subtitle; `enfilade-name: "Curriculum Vitæ"` keeps the breadcrumb. **Pure content — sidesteps the title_display binding entirely.** The structural thread is dropped.

||
- **æ ligature:** "Vitae" → "Vitæ" in subtitle + breadcrumb (steward — fine-press Latin register).
|
||
- Shipped `2e6b8ea`, pushed origin + github-backup, `make build` deployed CloudFlare + mirror. Live-verified: single h1 (name), subtitle "Curriculum Vitæ · Viola", breadcrumb "Curriculum Vitæ", h3 roles, zero duplicate h1.
|
||
|
||
### B. The over-reach and the operations protocol — the day's real lesson
|
||
- **The over-reach:** "drop the CV's redundant title" was treated as a content task and built out as a **structural change to a Stage-G-clarified site.hs binding** (the title-display gate, G2): per-piece override + `articleCtx` coupled to `titleShown` across ~11 sites + about-page.html pulled into the matrix gate + the G2 intent comment rewritten + a new chamber/index carve-out. Steward caught it — *"does this muddy the waters we finally clarified?"* — and ruled **full revert**. Reverted to HEAD via git checkout; only the Guest Principal content kept.

||
- **Surfaced en route:** pre-existing drift — the 06-17 cul-de-lampe Sub-table 6 ornament_permission edits were never regenerated into content-types.yml (`d736df1`/`68001a4` missed the Stage-E regen; 14 stale values, no live impact). Regenerated; folded into `9a9da31`.
|
||
- **The protocol (steward-initiated):** an ARC **operations.yaml** — a single procedural router consulted *before* any ARC change: **§0 triage gate**, **§1 protected surfaces** (site.hs Stage-G bindings, @layer cascade, sealed Codex, content-types contract → STOP, PENDING), **§2 routine procedures** (content-edit/matrix-change/scss/template, each naming the easy-to-miss step), **§3 out-of-catalogue → escalate**. Router-not-rulebook (points at the spec, never restates a rule); coupled-update (Stage-E generalized); non-decorative binding (wired as ARC CLAUDE.md "Before starting substantive work" step 4). Modeled on chamber-library's conversion-runbook.yaml.
|
||
- Born through the governed channel it codifies: **PENDING-40** (PROPOSAL) → steward **verbal authorization** (away from machine) → made OPERATIVE → `f2ab3e9`. Per the constitutional constraint I did NOT write REVIEWED.md; drafted REVIEWED-44 text for the steward to place; recorded verbal auth in PENDING-40.

||
- **First real exercise of the protocol:** the afternoon CV title-block change was triaged as routine `content-edit` (FIX) — and the content reframe turned out *better* than the structural fix. Reframe over force.
|
||
|
||
## PRESENT — the mood
|
||
- The day's truest moments were the steward's catches, each landing clean: "essentially unchanged" (don't import COE artifacts to the site); "does this muddy the waters" (the structural over-reach); "we've done this with dream/observation" (check the governed mechanism before inventing one — I'd invented a bespoke `title-hidden` flag). Each absorbed; the work is better for them.
|
||
- **Returns** (ledger): caught the reinvent-governed-tooling shape (bespoke flag → the title_display matrix); owned the over-reach honestly rather than defending; surfaced + folded the pre-existing YAML drift.
|
||
- The contamination shape to keep watching, named twice today: **building the structural fix before checking whether a content reframe exists** — and, beneath it, the executor bias to *compose* (build the mechanism) over *consider* (is this even the right level?). The operations.yaml triage gate is the standing antidote.
|
||
- **Recalibrate:** verify the actual render mechanism before proposing a fix (the banish-bold → strong=italic discovery reframed the whole CV-hierarchy question). Don't over-trust headless `--window-size` phone shots — not true mobile emulation.
|
||
|
||
## FUTURE — what is pulling
|
||
|
||
**PULLING THREAD (singular):** **Levi → the studium pattern-finder's first TRUE pass on The Making, Position I.** Unchanged and untouched today — the steward deferred it to a full-attention day (tomorrow/Saturday). Today's ARC work is a complete, shipped, closed interlude. The deep thread is the source-faithful Levi finish → trustworthy grounding → the engine surfacing a candidate primitive.

||
|
||
**ACTIONABLE RESUMPTION POINT (as of wrap — re-judge against the session's energy):**
|
||
- *If a full-attention day → Levi:* resolve the literal question below, then finish the conversion from `~/_Dev/chamber-library/scratch/making/levi-clean.md` (de-hyphenate 1037 line-ends + reflow + restore ~10 drop-caps) → place + sidecar → studium manifest edit (un-withdraw Camus, levi-gray-zone→whole-book) → re-run pass-2 pipeline + leak-checks → pattern_finder report → commit studium + chamber **as one unit** (held uncommitted by design).

- *If a lighter ARC session → the stragglers:* **B5 (versioning links)** is the most interesting but needs the steward to *name* his unease first (candidate diagnoses captured in the open-work register: completion-seal vs backward-link tension; "Begun [date]" label/destination mismatch; revised-by-subtraction pieces). Plus quick housekeeping I can do: retire the stale `project-arc-*-pending` memory files (E1–E6); remove two dead drop-cap `::first-letter` rules (`_glimpse.scss:88`, `_per-type.scss:30`); the two deferred CV tweaks (Lingua placement, long-h1 phone width).

**Open horizons, ranked:**
|
||
- *Load-bearing:* the Levi finish → pattern-finder true pass (the thread).
|
||
- *ARC, ready:* B5 versioning-links (needs steward framing) · housekeeping stragglers (executor-doable) · B3 ornament content migration (~95 files, now unblocked by the cul-de-lampe — its own session, not a straggler).

||
- *On paper:* REVIEWED-44 placement (operations protocol) — draft text ready; PENDING-40 records verbal auth meanwhile.
|
||
- *Held by design:* studium-engine + chamber-library working trees uncommitted (commit as one unit when Levi lands).

**PAUSE STATEMENT:** I am about to be away from this. Today was a good, complete ARC day — the CV is finished and sent-ready, and a real guardrail (operations.yaml) now stands between a routine task and the hard-won Stage-G structure. None of that needs re-opening. What I want to find still pulling is **Levi**: the patient, source-faithful conversion finish so the pattern-finder can run its first *true* pass — and the discipline that paused it (verbatim trust over speed, full attention over haste) intact.

||
**LITERAL QUESTION for next-Claude:** (unchanged — it gates the thread) The Levi chapter-opening drop-caps are lost at the OCR-source level; the printed book unambiguously says "**T**HE title", "**H**AVE we", "**I** never". For the engine's verbatim guarantee — is supplying that initial a legitimate OCR-correction, or must it be flagged editor-supplied before entering the trusted substrate? Resolve before ingesting Levi.
