Basic Memory v0.21.6 first sync over the live memory dir (steward-authorized live-dir trial, Option A 2026-06-06): adds permalink: to frontmatter, refolds long YAML description lines, strips final newlines. Bodies untouched — verified via full diff classification. From this commit forward, any diff in claude/memory shows only what Basic Memory or the session writes. Trial design: MemPalace untouched as incumbent; git status check on this dir at every wrap; end-of-day evaluation (recall quality, sync robustness, rebuild-from-files, malformed-file behavior). When ARC typography work needs the masters' prescription (setting verse, block quotes, hyphenation, measure, etc.), the source-of-truth is a dedicated MemPalace palace we built for exactly this: a small curated collection (~20-21 sources — Bringhurst Elements, Tschichold Form of the Book, Lupton Thinking with Type, Sousa Ortografía y ortotipografía del español, and more).
Location: ~/.mempalace/palace-chamber-typography (wing chamber_typography, room general).
Query method — CLI, not MCP. The MCP mempalace_* tools point at palace-memory (our session/working memory), NOT this palace. To search the typographers, use the CLI with --palace:
mempalace --palace ~/.mempalace/palace-chamber-typography search "your keywords here"
mempalace --palace ~/.mempalace/palace-chamber-typography status
The binary is /opt/homebrew/bin/mempalace. CLI subcommands: init, mine, sweep, sync, search, compress, wake-up, split, hook, instructions, repair, repair-status, mcp, migrate, status. (Search hits show source file + cosine/bm25 — go to the named *.md source for the full passage.)
This is NOT the chamber-library (~/_Dev/chamber-library, the larger reading corpus) — it is a separate, small, purpose-built typography palace. Don't conflate them. Steward's standing instruction (2026-06-02): for typography queries of this kind, use this palace via CLI — don't ask where it lives again.
