Basic Memory v0.21.6 first sync over the live memory dir (steward-authorized live-dir trial, Option A 2026-06-06): adds permalink: to frontmatter, refolds long YAML description lines, strips final newlines. Bodies untouched — verified via full diff classification. From this commit forward, any diff in claude/memory shows only what Basic Memory or the session writes. Trial design: MemPalace untouched as incumbent; git status check on this dir at every wrap; end-of-day evaluation (recall quality, sync robustness, rebuild-from-files, malformed-file behavior). # Manutius (not Manuzio)
|
||
|
||
## Rule
|
||
|
||
When referring to the Venetian Renaissance printer Aldus / Aldo Manutius (c. 1449–1515), use the **Latin spelling: Manutius**.
|
||
|
||
Norris's *Between You & Me* uses "Manuzio" (Italian). Steward prefers the Latin form. When quoting Norris directly, leave her spelling intact; when writing in our own voice, use Manutius.
|
||
|
||
## Why
|
||
|
||
Steward stated the preference directly (2026-04-23 evening): *"in spite of Manutius (prefer the latin spelling of his name)"*. No further reason given, but consistent with his humanist-latinate register and with Manutius's own usage — his firm was the Aldine Press, he signed prefaces Aldus Manutius Romanus. The Latin is the name the man actually published under.

- In ARC context (style-guide, typology spec, AldineXXI discussions): Manutius.
|
||
- When citing Norris's text: leave "Manuzio" in the quotation; switch to Manutius in our own commentary.
|
||
- Applies to related forms: Aldus (not Aldo) unless quoting, Aldine Press (not a change; already Latin-derived). |
